Dale Albert DallingerAge 93, of Birchwood, WI formerly of Remington, IN died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home.He was born on July 22, 1924 in Remington, IN to Carl and Lena (Oberlander) Dallinger. He entered the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Uhlmann destroyer ship in March 1943 and was honorably discharged in February 1946 as a Gunner's Mate Third Class. Dale received the Victory Medal, American Medal, 7
Bronze Stars from the Asiatic Pacific, 2 Bronze Stars in the Philippine Liberation and the Silver Star Medal. Dale was married to Mary Lou Holtkamp on November 12, 1947 in Fowler, IN. He worked for the Blue Flame Gas Company as a manager, the Remington School System in Maintenance and at the DeKalb Seed Corn Company as a laborer. Dale was very creative and love to fish, woodwork, garden and cook.Dale Dallinger is survived by his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie & Jerry Wilder of Birchwood, WI and Susan & Ron Chirello of Lombard, IL; 5 grandchildren, Derek (Jennie) Wilder, Deren (Leah) Wilder, Sara (Edward) Houlihan, Nathan (Jasmine) Flickner and Lena (John) Makay; 12 great-grandchildren, Kylene (Joe) Toney, Courtney (Jesse) Leslie, Connor Wilder, Sidnie Wilder, Gunner Wilder, Cameron Houlihan, Keenan Houlihan, Makaila Flickner, Hunter Flickner, Marek Makielski, Harper Makay and River Makay; a brother, Raymond "Bud" Dallinger of Monticello, IN; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Dallinger; his parents, Carl and Lena Dallinger; 2 brothers, Floyd and Perry; and 2 sisters, Mabel and Helen.A Celebration of his Life will be held from 2 - 4 PM Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home at N150 Limestone Lane, Birchwood, WI. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Remington Cemetery in Remington, IN where Military Rites will be accorded by the Remington American Legion Post where he was a 70 year member.
