Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Sobotka, age 61, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2017 at her home in McKinney, TX, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born July 9, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ronald Sr. and Ethel (King) Sobotka.
Cindy worked in retail, making life long friends, and when she was not working, she was taking care of her grandkids. Cindy’s passion and love for family, her positive attitude on life and infectious smile is what will be missed the most.
She is survived by: her children, Jessica (Tim) Guntorius of McKinney, TX and Jason Gust of Bethel Springs, TN; four grandchildren, Jeremy Guntorius, Tia Guntorius, Katie Guntorius and Rogen Gust; siblings, Ronald (Cynthia) Sobotka of Sarasota, FL, Bill (Mary) Sobotka of Homer Glen, IL, Karen (Jeff) Grippo of McHenry, IL, and Diana (Russell) Boyer of Franklin Park, IL; and Goddaughters, Victoria Benson and Kori Wentzloff. She is also survived by two aunts, brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and her children’s father, Robert L. Gust.
Family and friends are invited to Cindy’s Celebration of Life, on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 1p-5p at Twin Lakes Golf Course, 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive, Palatine, IL 60074.* The event will be held in the facilities’ outdoor tent to take in the beautiful colors of autumn, her favorite season. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a cash bar will be available. Please join the family for an afternoon of reminiscing and great music in honor of an amazing and brave woman who was loved by all.
