Born in Manati, Puerto Rico, Cruz lived a few days short of 94 years. During his journey of life, he worked for Obras Publicas for many years and on his days off he loved to get up early and collect cans while riding his three-wheeled bicycle. Although his birth name was Cruz, to everyone around him he was known as "Welo," a Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, and Great-Great grandfather, one can say he embraced the title like no other. Welo loved to sing and dance and often played traditional Puerto Rican instruments such as the guiro. He was always outdoors watering plants and feeding his ducks and kept himself busy doing household projects. Welo came to live with his granddaughters not long after the passing of his beautiful beloved wife Candelaria Hernandez. He was later diagnosed with cancer and fought to live long and strong. Lost but never forgotten Welo is now our angel in the sky. Dios de bendiga Welo Bendicion - See more at: http://www.eastlawn.com/obituary/Cruz-Ortega/Sacramento-CA/1505286#sthash.S90MjU3f.dpuf
