Courtney Carnell EllisJackson, TNCourtney Carnell Ellis (June 14, 1974-February 1, 2017)Courtney Carnell Ellis passed away on February 1, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and an interior designer. Courtney will forever be remembered for her tremendous passion for: her faith, her family, her friends, animals, UT football, Chi Omega, and everything fine and beautiful in life. Of course, her daughter Marimac has always been the most beautiful part of her life.Compassionate and selfless in her caring for others, Courtney put her Christian faith into action on mission trips to Haiti and her devoted care for her Grandmother, Nita Walker Steelman (Nannie) and her Aunt Gwendolyn Walker Rooks (Mama Den). Courtney always put others before herself, and her infectious smile made you feel like the most important person in the room, especially when you needed it the most. She would cry with you until you were laughing and laugh with you until you were crying. Her love was deep, and she never held back her feelings. Daughter of Stanley Walker Carnell and wife Carol Arnold Carnell and the late Fredda Ann Mynatt Carnell, Courtney was born on June 14, 1974. She is survived by Jonathan Warren Ellis, her loving husband of 18 years, her beloved daughter Marianna McCoy Ellis, her sister Mary Elizabeth Carnell Carman (Michael), Amelia Harris Randag (Mike), and Delana Harris Neill (Blake)Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2 from 5pm until 7pm at George Smith and Sons, North Chapel.
