Clara Jane Passmore, 92, of Montrose, passed away after an extended illness, on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Meadow View Senior Living Center. Her husband, Franklin "Bud" Passmore, predeceased her.She was born on July 23, 1921 in Fairdale, to the late Glen A. and Faith Irene (Devine) Cronk. Surviving are her four children and their spouses, David and Donna Passmore, Wilmington, N.C., Gary Passmore, Montrose, Janice and Ronald Hollenbeck, Lawsville, Corey and Debbie Passmore, West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Brian Hollenbeck, Becky Arnold, Jeffrey, Brandon, and Chris Passmore, Jennifer (Dan) Solvino, Faith and Collin Passmore; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mavis Bunnell, and Nedra Allen; a brother, Rolland Cronk.Clara was a lifetime member of the Fairdale United Methodist Church, and former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from the Rush High school, class of '39, and then graduated from the Ridley Lowell business school. She had worked at the hanger factory in South Montrose, then in the payroll department at the highway shed, and for over 35 years at the Montrose General Hospital. Clara also ran the telephone switchboard at the same time her mother ran the post office in Fairdale. She was a fervent fan of the New York Yankees, and the Boston Celtics. Clara was also a loving and devoted grandmother.A Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Spering of the Hop Bottom Methodist Charge, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairdale Cemetery.
