SWEET VALLEY — Clara Mae Lockwood, 86, of Sweet Valley, formerly of Westmoreland, N.Y., passed away Nov. 16, 2016, at the ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.
Mrs. Lockwood was born on June 2, 1930, in Lake Township, and was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Ashburner) Sutton.
Clara graduated from the former Laketon High School in 1948 and attended Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y. She worked at the former Endicott Johnson in Johnson City, N.Y., for several years. Clara was a member of the Oneida Free Methodist Church, where her husband, the Rev. George Lockwood, served as assistant pastor. She was a former member of the Outlet Free Methodist Church, where she served as the organist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Robert Sutton.
Clara is survived by husband, the Rev. George W. Lockwood; son, Mark Lockwood and his wife, Wendy, of Westmoreland, N.Y.; daughters, Linda Banks and her husband, David, of Seattle, and April Donnelly, of Westmoreland, N.Y.; brother, the Rev. George Sutton, of Oklahoma City; sister, Betty Gosart Newberry, of Sweet Valley; 11 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Manor Care Health Services, 200 Second Ave., Kingston, with her son-in-law, Pastor David Banks, officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. to time of service at ManorCare. Future memorial services will be released at a later date, to be held in Westmoreland, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Outlet Free Methodist Church, 531 Lehman Outlet Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
