Christine CaldwellChristine Weldon Caldwell, 90, of Bernice, LA passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock, AR. She was born on March 11, 1927, in Bernice, LA.Funeral services for Christine Weldon Caldwell will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Bernice Methodist Church. Rev. Johnie Adkins will officiate. Interment will follow at Bernice City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2017 from 2:00 until the service at the church.As a child, Christine attended school in Bernice, LA. After her high school graduation, she attended Louisiana Tech and received a BS degree in math and science. She returned to college after her husband's death and received an MS degree. Christine was a long-time math teacher in Union Parish Schools. She taught two years at Spearsville High School and spent the remainder of her teaching career at Bernice High School until her retirement in 1986.Christine was an active member of Bernice Methodist Church. When her health declined, she moved to Presbyterian Village, a retirement home and nursing facility in Little Rock, AR. Christine was a great cook, an avid reader, an excellent seamstress, an amazing teacher, and a perfect grandmother.Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Willie E. and Mittie Pirkle; her husband, John L. Caldwell, Jr.; three sons: John Michael Caldwell, Paul Ernest Caldwell, Thomas L. Caldwell; and her sister, Joann Weldon Sanders.Christine is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Young of North Little Rock, AR; brother, Winfred Weldon and wife, Patsy, of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren: Cliff Young of Nashville, TN; Kristina Mulhollen (Dan) of Sherwood, AR; Megan Ausbrooks (Chad) of Sherwood, AR; Veronica Tarnowski (Josh) of Kansas City, MO; Rachel Etemadi (Chris) of Corinth, TX; and great-grandchildren: Porter Ausbrooks, Hazel Kate Mulhollen, Sloane Mulhollen, and Pressley Mulhollen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Memorials may be made to Bernice United Methodist Church, 202 8th Street, Bernice, LA 71222.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comKilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston, LA
