Schuettpelz, ChesterChester Emil Schuettpelz, age 89 of Suring, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, January 22, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born on March 28, 1927 to the late Paul and Anna (Rakow) Schuettpelz of Hayes. Chester was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes. He attended Grignon Grade School, Hayes, and St. John's Lutheran School. Chester was confirmed in faith at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes. He married Luella Mae Quandt on June 7, 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed. Chester and Luella farmed and logged in Hayes for many years. They then purchased a business in Suring, Suring Machine Shop, from Herb and Adele Schuettpelz in 1967. Chet's service was a main stay in Suring until he retired in 1997. Chester and Luella were always there to help those in need. They belonged to the Suring Area Antique Tractor Association, where they were honorary members, and the Suring Area Historical Society. In 2010, Chester and Luella were Grand Marshalls in the Suring Labor Day Weekend Celebration. Chester also built and ran the "eliminator" at the Suring Labor Day Tractor Pull and other area events.Chester is survived by his wife, Luella; 2 sons, Thomas (girlfriend Lorie) Schuettpelz and Terry (Marcie) Schuettpelz; granddaughter, Dana Schuettpelz; great-granddaughter, Madysen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Rose Gipp, Lydia Bartz, Alma Schuettpelz; 2 brothers, Leonard Schuettpelz and Bennie Schuettpelz.Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes, from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Nick Buchholz officiating. Interment will take place in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
