Cherysse Michele (McCann) Guilfoyle passed away at home on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the age of 64. Born August 13, 1951, Cherysse built her life and family in her hometown of San Francisco, where she attended St. Philip the Apostle, Immaculate Conception Academy, and San Francisco State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She worked as a stay-at-home mom, limited edition collectibles dealer, and administrative assistant for the UCSF brain tumor research department. She loved music, playing both piano and guitar, and would often share stories of encounters with 1960s and 1970s musical icons, including Janis Joplin.
Cherysse is survived by her husband Paul; daughters Nicole Guilfoyle, Monique Nichols, and Antoinette Guilfoyle; grandchildren Aries Guilfoyle, Aidan Downs, Rylan Downs, and Kianna Freeborn; brother Kenneth McCann; sister-in-law Ardith (Lowell) McCann; and son-in-law Brian Downs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albertina and Kenneth McCann.
Services: A rosary is scheduled for 7 pm, Monday, February 8, at Duggan’s Welch Funeral Services, 3434 17th St, San Francisco. Family and friends may visit beginning at 5 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 9 at 10 am at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 665 Elizabeth St, (between Castro St. and Diamond St.), San Francisco with burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd, Colma.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cherysse may be made to The San Francisco SPCA (sfspca.org) or American Heart Association (heart.org).
