Charlotte Kay Meredith Gower, age 68, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on May 28, 1948 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Kermit and Opal McGrew Meredith.

She was an alumnus of Western Kentucky University, a teacher and a librarian, an avid reader who enjoyed walking, and loved UK Basketball and Nascar. She was a member of the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, the Grayson County School Board, the Zeta Chi Philanthropic Sorority, and the Grayson County Retired Teachers Association. In addition to being a Girl Scout leader, she was also a former member of the Grayson County Hospital Auxiliary, a past historian for the Grayson County Alliance, and a past member of the Grayson County Library Board.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jimmy Gower, of Leitchfield; a daughter, Jayme Olson (Kyle), of Lexington, KY; a granddaughter, Veronica Olson, of Lexington, KY; a brother, Steve Meredith (Karen), of Leitchfield, KY; a sister, Debbie Downey (Ralph), of Gallatin, TN; a special sister, Carolyn Thomason (Bill), of Leitchfield; two nephews, Chad Meredith (Rebekah) and Bryce Meredith (Kellie), both of Lexington, KY; four great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harold Meredith, and her beloved dog, Ernie.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Fred Whitmore will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
