Charles V. (C.V.) Thaxton, Jr.1931-2017Charles V. (C.V.) Thaxton, Jr. was called home to be with The Lord on January 17, 2017. Charles was born on March 26, 1931 in Aberdeen, Mississippi. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a tank commander. After his military service he married the love of his life, Neva Floyce Burden and they shared 61 years of marriage. They made their home in Pensacola and Charles worked and retired from Monsanto.Mr. Thaxton was preceded in death by his wife, Floyce Thaxton; parents, Charlie and Earlie Mae Thaxton and his son, Jeffery Thaxton. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Evelyn (Dan) McLeod, his children, Denise (Terry) Harper, Susan (Vincent) Godwin, and Scott Thaxton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Broadview Assisted Living, the doctors, nurses and therapists at Sacred Heart Hospital, Select Hospital and Covenant Hospice for their loving care of our father.The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Friday, January 20th from 1-2:00pm with funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
