Charles "Charley" Millen McMurray, 65, of Sneads Ferry, NC passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. He was the son of John Millen McMurray and Helen Earnhardt McMurray. A memorial celebration of life will be held at McEwen Funeral Home Chapel in Mint Hill, NC at 11am on December 10, 2016.Charley was born on March 29, 1951 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC and was a long time resident of Mint Hill, NC. Charley and his wife of 41 years, Colette, moved to Sneads Ferry, NC in 2007 to fulfill their lifelong dream of living at the beach together. Charley graduated from Garinger High School in 1969 and then served his country in the USAF. He enjoyed a successful 35 year career in communications design and sales and retired in March 2016. Charley loved spending time with his family, especially playing on the beach with his granddaughters.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Wayne McMurray. He is survived by his wife, Colette; his daughter Kelley McMurray Meidl and her husband John; his daughter Becky McMurray Fields and her husband Corey; three granddaughters, Cecilia Belle, Lyla Pearl, and River Caroline. He is also survived by his sister Ruth McMurray Hedgpeth and his nieces and nephews.Charley will be so sorely missed by his family. He was such a loving husband, father and grandfather, and we were all looking forward to many more years of being with him.
