Charles "Charlie" Mark Juan, 49, beloved son, father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born on November 21, 1964 in Phoenix, AZ. Charlie attended San Pasqual High School and Maricopa Skills Center. He obtained certification as an Off-Set Printer. His last employer was the American Cancer Society in Phoenix, AZ. Charlie was also a carpenter by trade. He worked on several construction projects for the Quechan Indian Tribe. Charlie was a member of the Quechan Indian Band as a drummer. Charlie's favorite pastime was hanging with his buddies listening to music, playing guitar, playing rez ball, and enjoying his children and grandchildren. Charlie is survived by his mother, Charlene Emerson; son, Matthew Charles Juan; daughters, Olivia (Aaron) Juan, Stacee (Domingo) Juan, Summer Juan and Amanda Twist; grandchildren, Devon, Andrei, Demi, Claira, Mia, Charles, and Tiana; niece, Roxanne Jackson; aunts, Marsha Emerson, Janice Emerson, Cecilia Antone, Teresa Antone, and Janet Andrews; uncles, Keith Emerson, Willie Antone, and David Antone; and numerous cousins. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Juan; sister, Andrea Juan; paternal grandmother, Alfretta Antone; maternal grandparents, Fred and Henrietta Emerson; cousins, John D. Collins and Camille E. Bowser.Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Yuma Methodist Church, 350 Picacho Rd, Winterhaven. Tribal Rites to follow at the Quechan Big House.
