ANGOLA — Charles Edward Kensill, 89, died peacefully Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his home in Angola. Chuck was born on August 12, 1925, in Fort Wayne to John Charles and Mabel Ruth (Golden) Kensill. He graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne. He married Sharon Cheshier on November 25, 1985. He retired as vice president from Art Iron Steel Company after 41 years. After retiring, he became a volunteer deputy with the Steuben County Sheriff's Department in Angola, Indiana. He enjoyed patrolling the lakes in Steuben County. He joined the Naval Air Corps in 1943 during WWII. After the war, he graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in criminology. He was a member of the Orland American Legion Post 423, George Anspaugh Post of the VFW, 32 Degree Free Mason of the Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge, Flying Shriner of the Mizpah Shrine Club and the American Power Boat Association. On July 4, 1974 he received a world record for OPC.SJ Boat Racing. Surviving are his loving wife, Sharon Kensill of Angola; his daughter, Kelli Kensill of Fort Wayne, his son, Michael (Toni McCullers Kayumi) McCullers of Lakewood, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Bethany (McCullers) Bessesen, Jonathan McCullers, and Mateo McCullers Kayumi. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Kensill, and two sisters, Joan Poer and Mary Braden. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, with Pastor Wayne C. Berkesch officiating and Masonic services by the Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Military honors will be by the Orland American Legion Post 423. Final resting place will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana. Memorials may be made to s or Juvenile Diabetes Association.
