Charles J. Harris, 76, Delphi, passed away on Nov. 26, 2016. He was born on Aug. 12, 1940, in Delphi, to the late Thurston and Alean (Logsdon) Harris. He married Dorothy Willoughby on Dec. 26, 1963, in Idaville.Mr. Harris was a 1958 graduate of Idaville High School in White County. He served in the US Army from 1963 - 1965.He was employed for over 36 years at Fairfield Manufacturing, Lafayette, where he retired in 2001.He loved playing basketball, helping young boys and girls play basketball, doing yard work, gardening and being with family. He had coached seventh and eighth grade boys' basketball for over 20 years.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Delphi; son, Michael Shane (Nancy) Harris, Lafayette; daughter, Michell Renee (Matt) Harris Hitze, Lafayette; brothers, Rondell (Sandy) Harris, Lafayette, Wendell (Jackie) Harris, Kentucky; sisters, Mary (Everett) Gillespie, Monticello, Nancy (Terry) Landis, Idaville; and grandchildren, Olivia Hitze, Lafayette and Bailey Harris, Delphi. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Bob Harris.Private services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi with Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating.
