Charles Edward Jefferson passed away peacefully March 26, 2019 in Albany, Ca. He was 82 years old. Charles was born August 2, 1936 to Martin Luther and. Mable Lee Jefferson in Washington, Arkansas.
charles aka uncle Charles was raised and educated in a Washington, Arkansas. He moved to California as an adult where he started worked and started a family. Charles loved the Lord. He was a kind, gentle, soft spoken, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather uncle and friend.
Charles was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. He loved music, and enjoyed singing gospel songs. His favorite song to sing was “Our Father” by the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi. He loved horses, watching westerns and playing basketball and watching The Golden State Warriors. He played the guitar, and loved his sister Shirley’s sweet potato pies.
Charles was preceded in death by both parents Martin Luther and Mable Lee Jefferson, his brother Martin Luther and sister Erma Jean Phillips.
His life will be forever cherished by his wife La Jean Wilson-Jefferson of Oakland,Ca., sister Rosa Lee Davis (Vernell Sr.) of Berkeley, Ca., sister Shirley Bradford of Oakland, Ca. and sister-in-law Barbara Turner of Oakland, Ca. He is also survived by 6 sons Charles Jr., Timothy, Steve, Phillip, Curtis, and Marvin Jefferson; 1 daughter Anika Jefferson, and 2 step-sons Charles and Carl Wilson. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved him.
