Charles E Frost JrMelbourneCharles Everett Frost, Jr., 89, of Melbourne, FL, died on June 20, 2017. Charles was born on February 10, 1928, in Gallipolis, OH, to Charles E Frost, Sr, and Creota B (Mitchell) Frost. He grew up near Pine Lake, OH, exploring the woods with his brother. After High School, he joined the U S Army in service to his country during WWII. He married the love of his life, LaVerne Main, on June 27, 1953, in Youngstown, OH at Mahoning United Methodist Church. He began his career in electronics in OH as a television repairman and then moved his family to Eau Gallie, FL in 1956 being hired to work at Cape Canaveral. His career progressed to aerospace as a supervisor at the Kennedy Space Center, spanning the years of unmanned missiles, including the Bomarc and Minuteman, and later to the manned flights of the Apollo, Saturn, Skylab, and Space Shuttle missions, where he had the opportunity for many overseas trips maintaining emergency landing sites for the Shuttle. He retired from KSC in 1995 after a long lasting career at the Cape.  Charles was a dedicated member of St Paul's United Methodist Church of Melbourne, the Masonic Lodge, the Azan Shrine, and the Scottish Rite. Charles had a beautiful and rich baritone singing voice and was well known for sharing it with the local community in plays, light opera, and at church, through countless solos, and performances at the Brevard Community College Chorale and the Coventry Carolers. He and his wife shared their love of music both locally and on trips throughout the world. He was also a Ham Radio operator for over 60 years and he enjoyed meeting and speaking to fellow hams both near and far. His call sign was K4KOD and his children heard him say countless times from his ham radio room "K4KindOldDog", "K4KingofDiamonds" and "K4KiloOscarDelta".  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, LaVerne Frost, who deceased on January 6, 2017;also his parents and his brother, Kenneth R Frost of Columbiana, OH.He is survived by sons, Douglas John Frost, of Melbourne, FL, Jeffrey Alan Frost (his wife Lynne) of Cheyenne, WY, Charles Scott Frost, of Melbourne, FL, and daughter,  Laurie Evelyn Frost, of Apollo Beach, FL; grandsons, Heath Alan Frost (his wife Katherine), Ryan Everett Frost (his fiancé Elizabeth Forslund) of Cheyenne, WY; great-granddaughters, McKenzie Sierra Graf Frost, of Franklin, OH, Luci Lynne Fitzgerald Frost and Ellie Marie Frost, of Cheyenne, WY; and in addition, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  The family wishes to thank Home Instead, Grand Villa of Melbourne, River View Senior Resort, our local hospitals, Wave Crest Health and Rehabilitation Center, VITAS Hospice, and the pastors at St Paul's United Methodist Church for their care extended to him during his later years.Services, including military honors, will be at St Paul's United Methodist Church, in Melbourne on June 30, 2017 at 1:30PM with later inurnment at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge. Family and friends will gather after the service in Cotter Hall at St Paul's for fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Fund in care of Shriners Hospital of Tampa, FL.
