Celia Smedley SorensenSeptember 14, 1926 - October 3, 2013Celia Ruth Smedley Sorensen 87, passed away after a heroic battle with cancer on October 3, 2013 at her home in Malad, Idaho surrounded by loved ones.Celia was born on September 14, 1926 in Almy, Wyoming. She married Lloyd Lee Sorensen on May 28, 1948 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. They have 7 children, 27 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. She was an avid genealogist where she spent many, many hours in research and extraction. She and her husband Lloyd had the opportunity to serve 2 missions together. They also had the opportunity to be ordinance workers in the Logan Temple. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Her home was always a favorite gathering place for the family. There were always people coming and going and she loved it that way. She was always warm and welcoming and created a special spirit of love and acceptance. She was known for her endless energy and her zest for life.She is survived by her children, Nancy (Lee) Snedaker, South Jordan, Utah -Wendy (Rich) Sweeny, West Valley, Utah - Linda Sherwood, Maryland - Nadene (Dirk) Leavitt, Blackfoot, Idaho - Irene (Jeff) Bird, Arbon, Idaho - Craig (Lisa) Sorensen, Malad, Idaho.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Sorensen - Daughter, Sharon Ann - her parents, Sarah and Thomas Smedley - sister, Helen Bertognoli.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 9, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Malad 6th Ward building at 200 N. 400 W. A viewing will be held from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home at 132 W. 300 N. prior to the funeral services. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
