Catherine S. Conti (Arata), 93, of Detroit, Michigan, who lived most of her life in Lafayette, CA, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018, in Otsego, MI.

Catherine was born May 7, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Attilio and Maria (Olmo) Arata. On January 18, 1947, she married Joseph V. Conti (deceased) at St. Ambrose Church in Grosse Pointe, MI.

Catherine was very proud of her Italian heritage, especially her Genovese roots. She loved her grandchildren deeply and taught them to make her beloved family recipes like her famous ravioli. Throughout her life, she was always helping others through her acts of kindness and fundraising efforts; always with a great sense of optimism and humor.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau Lafayette where she lived in independent senior living, as well as Vicinia Gardens and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown to Catherine.

Surviving are her five children Michael (Patty Arceneaux) Conti of Sacramento, CA; Louis (Donna Innes) Conti, Kalamazoo, MI; Dolores “Dee” (Kevin Kelley) Conti, Allegan, MI; Victor (Laura Cockerill) Conti, Chandler, AZ; Joseph (Terri Gralinski) Conti, Allegan, MI; Grandchildren Chris, Becky, Matt, Paige, Emily, Nicole, Alex and Kati; Great Grandchildren Spencer, Sawyer, Ellie and Abby. Along with her sister Marie (Arata) Duhaime.

She was preceded in death by her parents Attilio and Maria Arata; sister Adelaide (Arata) Barbieri and her brothers Robert Arata, Joseph Arata and Orlando Arata.

At her request, she was cremated and a service will be planned later in the year in Detroit, Michigan.
