CAROLYN LEONHARDT MARTIN Devoted wife and mother Carolyn Leonhardt Martin of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 after a brave four month battle with cancer. She was born on September 21st in Brunswick, GA and was the only child of the late Julian and Lucille Leonhardt. Carolyn grew up in Lowell, NC surrounded by family and friends and moved to Wilmington to be near the beach over 40 years ago. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband and best friend of almost 25 years Darrell Martin; children, Cecil Smith & wife Peggy of San Antonio, TX, Julie Smith of Wilmington, Caroline Williamson of Wilmington and step children Lisa Martin Romero of Wilmington and Stephen Martin & wife Michelle of Fairborn, OH. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jeremy, Lindsay, Courtney, Olivia, Sage, Brie, Jade, Becca, and Tyler who will always have special memories of their Grammie. Carolyn will be remembered for her wonderful southern cooking, love of gardening, collecting shells on Wrightsville Beach, "working her crossword puzzles", making elaborate daily schedule lists of her favorite TV shows, her contagious laugh, and being the most nurturing Mama to her dog Bernie and bird Henry. Carolyn greatly appreciated the outpouring of support throughout her illness. The cards, gifts, visits, and phone calls were amazing sources of joy in her final weeks. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 11am Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Windermere Presbyterian Church, 104 Windermere Rd. Wilmington officiated by Rev. John R.
