Carolyn "Sue" Doak86, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 5, 2017 in Danville, Indiana. She was born on April 3, 1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Russell and Margaret McCalment.Sue grew up in Indianapolis. She attended Flackville Grade School and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1949, where she was a member of the choir.Sue loved music, in 1952 she joined the church choir at Fairfax Christian Church, where she met the love of her life, Ron, who was the choir director. Sue married Ronald Max Doak in January of 1953. They were happily married for 57 years. She was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Sue's hobby was cooking, which she loved to share with her family and friends.Sue was employed by Indiana Bell for 24 years, before retiring in 1986 to spend more time with her family and friends.Sue and her husband, Ron, were longtime residents of the west side of Indianapolis. They also greatly enjoyed spending winters at their beach cottage in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Upon Ron's passing, Sue resided at Brownsburg Healthcare, where she was loved by the staff who took very good care of her.Sue is survived by her children, Stephanie Stout Crenshaw (John), Mark Doak (Christie), and Timothy L. Doak (Joan); her grandchildren, Simon Stout, Elizabeth Schneider, Lauren Logsdon, Andrew Doak, Timothy J. Doak, Christopher Doak, and Anna Doak; her great-grandchildren, Odeya Stout and Immanuel Stout; her sister, Nancy Case; and her beloved extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Margaret McCalment; her brothers, David McCalment and Jack McCalment; her husband, Ronald Doak; and her grandson, Aaron Stout.The Doak family would like to thank the staff of Brownsburg Healthcare for their love and care for our mom during her time there, as well as, the staff at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville for their dedication to helping her be more comfortable during her most recent illness.The family will be greeting friends and relatives at a visitation on Friday, November 10th, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Road, with the service immediately following. Burial will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Mount Olive Ministries, 1449 S. High School Road Indianapolis, IN 46241.
