CAROL E. RYAN, 83 FREEPORT - Carol E. Ryan, 83, of Freeport, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 21, 1931 on her sister's second birthday in her parents home, Herbert and Mary (Brookman) Tholen in Eagan, IL. Carol married William Ryan on April 1, 1961. They had a son Steven P. Ryan. Carol was a member of Faith United Methodist Church of Freeport. She graduated from Leaf River High School in 1949. Carol was employed by General Casualty Insurance and Micro Switch of Freeport. She enjoyed parades, travelling, growing flowers and being with friends. Carol also enjoyed time on the water. Carol is survived by her son, Steven P. Ryan of Freeport, a sister, Donna Williams of Leaf River, nieces, Shirley (Rod) Poggioli of Leaf River, IL., Louraine Williams of Freeport; nephews, Richard (Shelly) Williams and Robin (Annette) Williams of Leaf River; and the wife of the deceased nephew Russell Williams-Cathy Williams of Byron. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in law, Robert Williams and nephew Russell Williams. Funeral service will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Wesley Lee will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
