Carol J. Matelski1940 - 2013Carol J. Matelski, 72, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Hospice House, with her family by her side.A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was born on Dec. 13, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Peter Vincent and Bertha (Lichter) Leuck. Carol attended St. George Elementary School and was a 1958 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.On April 13, 1959 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Joseph Matelski.For over 25 years, she was employed as an administrative assistant with the Social Security Administration. Carol was also the co-owner and operator of the family business, Matelskis Bar for 25 years. After her employment with Social Security, for 5 years, Carol was employed with U.W.-Parkside in the student services department.Carol was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading books, bowling, photography and playing the lottery. She leaves behind many joyful memories. Carol loved vacationing with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Matelski; her two children, Karen (Art) Reimer and Joseph Butch (Nancy) Matelski; her six grandchildren, Jamie (Greg) Roberts, Christy (Jeremy) Benvenuto, Tom (Amanda) Matelski, Jackie Matelski, Joe Reimer and Katie Reimer; and her five great grandchildren, Jeffrey Benvenuto, Joshua Benvenuto, Renee Roberts, Jack Roberts and Jaxson Benvenuto; her brother, John (Iris) Leuck; and many loving nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Matelski Woodliff; and two sisters, Mary and Barbara in infancy.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4804 7th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery. A visitation for Carol will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the I.C.U.
