Carol Davis BrewerVentura, CA Carol Davis Brewer, died on January 17, 2017, surrounded by her family, in Ventura, California. She was born on August 22, 1935 to Robert and Midge Davis in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was married August 2, 1958 to William Brewer at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Sacramento. They initially resided in Walnut Creek, and later moved to Fresno where they raised their family. After retirement they relocated to Ventura. Carol was an elementary school teacher for many years in Sacramento, Walnut Creek, and Fresno, and especially loved working with the primary grades and teaching children to read. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, table setting, cooking, and traveling. She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining and celebrating holidays in her home. Carol was a beloved mother and grandmother and formed close bonds with all of her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed reading to them and taking them to the zoo. After retirement she traveled extensively with her husband Bill and especially loved cruising. Carol volunteered with Assistance League in Ventura and served in various capacities at her church, St Paul's Episcopal Church in Ventura, including serving on the vestry and on the Altar Guild. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Curt Brewer and Lauren Hartford Brewer, James Brewer and Lori Huck, Mary Beth Brewer Umholtz and Ken Umholtz; her brother, Rob Davis and his wife Ann; nephew, Mark Davis; niece, Kathy Davis; and grandchildren, Jacob and Faith Curtis, Kelsey, Katherine and William Brewer, Ben, Dieter, and Rainer Umholtz. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 3290 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Assistance League of Ventura, St. Paul's Episcopal Church Ventura, or .
