Carl J. MohrCarl J. Mohr, 88, of Phoenix, Arizona died Friday, October 21, 2016. Carl was born on February 6, 1928 to Lydia and John Mohr in Wausau, Wisconsin. Carl spent his childhood in Stratford, Wisconsin and Campbellsport, Wisconsin, where he graduated from high school. Following in his father's footsteps, Carl chose to make the ministry his life's passion and occupation. He received his B.A. Degree from Lakeland College (Mission House) and completed his Divinity Degree from United Theological Seminary (Mission House Seminary). Carl married Beatrice Johnson on June 9, 1951. Bea and Carl were married for 60 years before her death in 2012. Carl's ministerial career spanned 40 years and five different churches. Rev. Mohr served the following churches: Zion United Church of Christ in Garner, Iowa (1952-1958); Trinity United Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio (1958-1968); David's United Church of Christ in Kettering, Ohio (1968-1981); Kirk of the Bonnie Brae in Denver, Colorado (1981-1986); St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Mary's, Ohio (1986-1992). During his career of ministry and service to others, Rev. Mohr touched the lives of thousands of church members, community residents, and friends and relatives. Rev. Mohr served in a host of leadership positions within the church and communities that he served. Carl and Bea retired in Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1992 to be near their sons and granddaughters. Carl was a dedicated and devoted grandpa to his four granddaughters - driving them to numerous sporting events, dance classes, and singing lessons to mention a few. In 2009, Carl and Bea moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Carl was an active volunteer in a variety of activities at the Beatitudes Campus where he lived his final years. Carl and Bea loved to travel; they visited 60 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Carl also enjoyed following sports of all kinds and reading as many books as possible. Carl is survived by sons John Mohr (Scottsdale, AZ) and his wife, Joy Mohr; and Tom Mohr (Fort Collins, Colorado); close friend and companion Lila Levi; granddaughters Michelle Buck (Chad), Monica Mohr (Marcus), Amy Bahl (Mike), and Courtney Mohr Taylor (Dan). Carl is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, Alice, and Abby. The Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 AM Friday November 11, 2016 at Beatitudes Campus Life Center, 1610 W.
