Carl CarrecaMiramar Beach, FLCarl Anthony Carreca, age 81, of Miramar Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his wife and three daughters.Carl was born on March 29, 1936, in New Orleans, LA, to Bertha Messmer Carreca Leonhard and Basil Joseph Carreca. He graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA and Louisiana State University with a Petroleum Engineering Degree. He received his MBA from LSU at New Orleans. He married the love of his life, Nona Jean Fondren, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 1, 1962. Carl retired after working for General Electric for 23 years and NRG, Inc. for 6 years. He started his own Pizza Hut franchise in 1988 to present. He served on the board of the franchise association for 2 terms. He lived all over the United States from New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Schenectady, NY, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Miramar Beach, FL, as well as Milan, Italy. Carl enjoyed boating and travel most of all. He was a devoted Catholic where he served on church boards and as an extraordinary minister. Carl was a patriot and a conservative who was passionate about this country. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was affectionately known as Botsi to his grandchildren.Carl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nona Fondren Carreca of Miramar Beach, Florida; daughters, Kimberley Scott (Ron) of Nashville, TN, Kelli Bullock (Jeff) of Nashville, TN and Kris Thomas of Westport, CT; grandchildren, Lane Bullock, Joshua Scott, Landon Bullock, Madison Thomas, Luke Bullock, Griffin Thomas, Zachary Scott, Nicholas Scott and Hunter Scott; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law, Bret Thomas.A memorial mass will be held Friday, July 7 at 11am at Resurrection Catholic Church, 259 Miramar Beach Drive, Miramar Beach, FL 32550 and will be celebrated by Father Tom Guido. Carl's 9 beloved grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
