Caroline M. DuMond passed away on Friday, January 6th 2017. Caroline was born on May 8th, 1918 in Kendall, Wisconsin. She graduated from St. Francis Nursing School after which she began her nursing career at the St. Francis Hospital. During that time she was contemplating a vocation as a nun when she met the true vocation of her life, Paul A DuMond. Paul's military career took them to a variety of places including trips overseas, ending with retirement in El Paso, Texas. As her children grew, Caroline returned to her nursing career, working several years at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Caroline is preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents Mary and William Pollard, brother James, sisters Olive and Elizabeth, daughter Patricia, grandson John David Deines, great grandson Christopher Nolen. She is survived by her brothers Charles Pollard (Kate) and Robert Pollard (Fran), her sons John (Laverne), Paul (Lynne) and Robert, daughters Mary Hernandez (Arturo), Kathleen Deines (John), Barbara DuMond, Theresa Cordova (Richard) and Mercedes Felix (her beloved adopted daughter). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. The family would like to thank Dr. Byron Chesbro, Cima Hospice, especially nurse Claudia Reveles and her loving caregivers, Mercy, Olga, Mina, Estela, Linda and Cora and all who gave such great care and love to Caroline all these years. When asked what she would like to be remembered for Caroline said, "That I was kind to people". Indeed she was. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Annunciation House, 1003 E, San Antonio, El Paso TX. 79901. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at F.D.A. Martin East, with a Vigil at 7:00pm, Funeral Mass at 9:30am, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Committal at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to F.D.A.
