Carole Mae (Stacey) Walker passed away at her home in Brawley on Saturday, November 7, 2015, in the presence of her family. After many years fighting a valient battle, she was finally able to ride off into the sunset and entered heaven at a full gallop. Mom was born on April 9, 1934, and was the daughter of Harry Wallace and Lulu Mae Stacey. She was the youngest of four children and grew up in Holtville. She was active in her ranching family, raised livestock, and was Miss Imperial Valley 1952 (pre-cursor to the Cattle Call Queen). She was an active member of the Barbara Worth Brigadettes and the Galloping Gossips drill team for many years. She was a 4-H leader, school board member and active in the sewing guild. Most recently she attended the Calipatria Community Church. Carole married Richard Walker of Westmorland on February 13, 1955. They owned and operated Walker Livestock Transportation for over 50 years. They started out in Westmorland, but a growing business and family (6 daughters) forced a move to a larger property. Dick and Carole relocated east of Brawley to Shank Road, where they expanded their business, and lived until very recently. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bob Stacey and Sam Stacey, and most beloved daughter, Karen. Our mother is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dick Walker; her sister Roseanne Bornt of Holtville; her daughters, Cynthia (Joe) Vandiver, Rosalie (Pat) Patterson, Judy (Ben) Abatti, Dana (Bob) Presley, and Jana (Kevin) Spieler.
