Bud Alton Jourden CAMARILLO, CABud Alton Jourden, 82, passed away on April 7, 2017 surrounded by his family in Palm Desert, CA. He was born on September 9, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA to Bud Alton Jourden and Hilda Alice Thomas. He grew up in Ontario, CA with his mom and stepfather Allison T. Black. He graduated in 1952 from Chaffey High School and attended Chaffey Community College. Bud's passion was flying! In college, he received his private pilot's license when only nineteen! Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy and flew Lockhee's Super Constellation, the C-121 making history as the youngest Aircraft Commander in the Navy at age twenty-three. He also was a member of the famed Blue Angels flight demonstration team. He flew 27 years for the Navy with over 9200 hours of accident-free flying. He retired in 1982 and was a charter pilot for Channel Islands Aviation for over twelve years. Bud married the love of his life Naida Jean Merry on November 1, 1959 and they were married for 53 years. Together they raised three children and had various tours of duty in Florida, Hawaii, Pennsylvania and California. They lived in Camarillo, CA for twenty-one years and moved in 1998 to Palm Desert, CA where they had a home for eighteen years. Bud will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Naida preceded him in death. And Bud is survived by his brother Travis Black, sister Debi Main and his nieces and nephews. Along with his daughter Jennifer Raptis (Vasili) of San Diego, CA, daughter Melinda McCutchan (Mark) of Eagle, ID, son Tim Jourden of Ventura, CA and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery on April 28, 2017.
