Brian D. BlackLAFAYETTE - Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00 AM in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Brian D. Black, age 62, who passed away at 12:05 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his daughter's residence in Lafayette. Deacon Cody Miller will conduct the service. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sheilah Black; his daughter, Bre-Anna, his stepchildren, Jared, Ashley, Ainnsley and Matthew. His brother, Albert Charles Black, Jr. and wife Mary, his sister, Carrie Black Mouledous and her husband Shelley, his nephews, Nicholas and Aaron Mouledous.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonie Ecuer Black and Albert Charles Black, Sr., and Orville Marshall, Jeremy Scott Begnaud, stepson. Brian was born on February 21st, 1955 in Franklin, Louisiana to Albert Charles Black and Leonie Ecuer Black, second of three children. He was raised in Grand Isle, Louisiana, moving to Lafayette in 1967. After graduating from Lafayette High, he joined the Navy and served his country for six years as a EM2 seaman on the nuclear submarine, The Ethan Allen. Finishing his Navy career, he then joined the ranks of oilmen in Louisiana, working offshore for most of his working life. His final stint was with GIS a NANNA Company where he was a E&A Supervisor. Brian was well respected not only in his career, but also by his family, which grew extensively through his life. He was a great husband, father to his beloved daughter, Bre-Anna, stepfather to Jared, Ashley, Ainnsley, and Brian Matthew. Grandfather (paw-paw) to Benjamin L. & Zack Ottone/Silvia, Scott O. Begnaud and Lillie S. Begnaud, Lilith I. Cherrie, Scarlett A. Greene, Amelie R. Huffman, Aubrey E. Kleles and Sawyer David Robertson.He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Lafayette.He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of the service.
