Beverly Arlene Pierson, 91, passed away on Oct. 29, 2011, at the United Methodist Homes, JGJ Nursing Home, Johnson City, with her family by her side. Arlene was born on April 11, 1920, in Rush, and was the daughter of the late Lillianand William Quick.She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 73 years, Douglas L. Pierson. She is also survived by her six children: Ron (Bev) Pierson, Gene (Nancy) Pierson, Marita (Jim) Root, Jim (Marcia) Pierson, Elaine (Forrest) Brown and Dennis (Pam) Pierson; 12 grandchildren: Jimmy (Amy) Root, Ron (Jody) Pierson, Tina (Dennis) Shaul, David Root, Janette (Doug) Graham, Jeff (Marie) Pierson, Kevin (Meghan) Root, Dana (Sarah) Pierson, Tonia (Jerry) Tracy, Jennifer Pierson, Colleen (Josh) Heaton and Jesse (Marianne) Pierson; 19 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; five step great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was employed by the John R. Harshaw Elementary School (CFCS) as a member of the cafeteria staff, by Link Aviation, Hillcrest, in the Printing Department, and by Fowler's Department Store. She volunteered her services as Cub Scout Den Mother, Voter Registrar and member of the Home Bureau in Kattelville. She was known as a wonderful cook by her family and friends, but was most noted for her famous apple pies. She would most like to be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Arlene was an active memberof the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She served in the Verona Circle and was a Past President of the Women's Society.She enjoyed living at the United Methodist Homes Hilltop Campus and was comforted by the caring staff and her compassionate social worker Aaron Ampula.A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chenango Bridge, NY, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. She will be placed to rest in the East Rush Cemetery, East Rush. Sutfin Funeral Chapel in Nichols, N.Y., is handling the arrangements.
