Beverly Ann HicksLaingsburgBeverly Ann Hicks of Laingsburg passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church in Laingsburg with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Her family is being served by Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel. Beverly was born on May 16, 1936 in Laingsburg, the daughter of Raymond and Esther (Benson) Stevens. She was a graduate of Laingsburg High School and four years of college to get her teaching degree. On December 31, 1955 she married Elwin Hicks in Angola, IN. She taught in the laingsburg School system for 10 years, Laingsburg Christian School for 8 years and the ran the Teddy Bear Den Pre-School for over 25 years. She was a member of Laingsburg First Baptist Church, active in Girl Scouts and was a foster parent (with her husband, Elwin) for six children. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elwin, four children, Debra (Keith) Deckrow, Pamula Wyzlic, Lori (Kevin) Shaulis and Robert (Dianna) Hicks, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Gary (Carolyn) Stevens, sisters, Sharon Pickens, Sandra Kadado and Patricia (Delbert) Johnson. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Gerald, Don, Roger, Gail, Wendall and Jack Stevens, Waviah Herblett, Lois Hileman, and Doris Hyler.
