She graduated from Prairie City High School. On October 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Laurence Stravers. Following her marriage, Betty farmed with her husband in the Prairie City and Vandalia area most of their lifeThose left to honor her memory include her two sons, Gene (Donna) Stravers of Runnells and David (Connie) Stravers of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Tony (Shelley) Stravers, Justin (Lori Reynolds) Breckenridge, Jason (Tanya) Stravers, Nicholas Stravers and Erica (RJ) Meyer; 14 great grandchildren and three sisters-in-law, Betty Howse, Beverly Elrod, and Beverly Steenhoek. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother, Raymond Steenhoek.
