Betty Mark Holland Willett, age 90, of Tawas City and Glennville, Ga. died on Jan. 8, 2011 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1920 in Apex, N.C. to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Holland (nee Mark). Betty was raised in Tawas City by her grandparents, John and Dora Mark, and graduated from Tawas High School in 1937. She attended Wayne State University was employed for 10 years by the law firm of Bodman, Longley, Bogle and Armstrong in Detroit. Betty later retired from Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Tawas United Methodist Church and past president of the Junior Wives of the Detroit Engineering Society. Betty was also the former district governor of the Northeast Potomac District of the Pilot International Club and served for five years on the International Executive Committee. She also taught Sunday school for many years in Michigan and Georgia. Betty married John E. "Jack" Willett on Feb. 15, 1947 at St. James Methodist Church in Detroit. Following his retirement in 1982, they returned to Tawas City. She is survived by her husband Jack; three daughters, Michele (Joseph) Beasley of Buford, Ga., Elizabeth (Elissa) Reidenbaugh of Glennville, Ga. and Adele (Thomas) Rosencrance of Kittanning, Pa.; son, Mark Edwin Willett of Glennville, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Tawas United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Gibson officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Georgia .
