Mrs. Mullis, 88, of Charlotte passed away on November 7, 2016 at home with her loving and devoted son by her side. She was born on January 16, 1928 in Charlotte to P.D. Witherspoon and Ida Williams Witherspoon. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends who loved her. Betty is preceded in death her husband, Sam Mack Mullis Jr. in 2004; son, Ronald Mack Mullis in 2003 and her sisters, Edith Lawing, Ruby Harris and Billie Paxton. Mrs. Mullis is survived by her loving son, Larry Michael Mullis; daughter-in-law, Lory Mullis; grandsons, Zachary Mack Mullis and Christopher Michael Mullis and nephews, Rick Harris, Bob Harris, Doug Harris and Dale Lawing. Betty loved to cook, read and work in her yard. She retired from Union Carbide and Bendix after which she enjoyed arranging tours to various cities and vacation spots for family and friends while working as an ambassador for Eastern Airlines. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of South Carolina and Pastor Charles Foushee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Betty's honor to the Western Carolina Chapter 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. Services will be private. McEwen Pineville Chapel is serving the family.
