Harris, Betty Jane (Tucker),Ms. Betty Jane Harris (Tucker) died peacefully at home, on September 16, 2017 in Gordon, Georgia at the age of 82. She was in the company of family and a dear friend. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Dona Tucker, her brother James Tucker, her sisters Loraine Hensley, Margaret Roberts, Helen Leamons, and Ellen (Babe) Reardon. She is survived by her three children: Linda Godwin (Shaw), Mark Howell (Sandra), and Betty Sue Adams. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Harris was born on November 19, 1934, in Louisville, KY. She was a graduate of both Aarons Trade School, and House of James Beauty College. She retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation, after 27 years of service. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, September 23 at her residence, in Gordon, GA, at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Harris' life. In lieu of flowers; please give in her spirit, she felt that charity is most effective locally. Specifically, if you know of a single mother who could use assistance, please give to them from your heart. The family would like to thank Ms. Harris' friends, who often came to visit and brighten her day.
