PORT JEFFERSON — Betty Lou Hickman, 51, of Port Jefferson, passed away at her residence Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at 01:18 a.m.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1965, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Eva (King) Murphy. On Oct. 14, 1995, she married Chester Hickman who survives.
Betty is survived by stepdaughter, Gloria (Cliff) Garber, of Port Jefferson and stepson, Youdas Hickman, of Coalton, Ohio. She is also survived by brothers, Robert Murphy, Ray (Connie) Murphy, Henry (Betty) Murphy; sisters Cindy (Jr.) Stephens, Faye (Darryl) Harness, Geraldine (Larrydean) Yantis and Linda (Jack) Creekmore; three stepgrandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren, whom she was very proud of. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Miller.
Mrs. Hickman was employed by Sunny Acres as a dietary technician for many years. She also worked at AVI Vending Company in Sidney. Betty loved animals especially her dogs Daisy May and Teddy Bear. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends and loved them dearly. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.
In honoring with Betty's wishes, her body will be cremated. There will not be any services held.
