St. George - Betty Gay (Witt) Bethers, 46, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday Feb. 7 due to heart failure with her loving and devoted husband by her side.She was born on Dec. 26, 1948, in Heber City, Utah, to Floyd and Wilma Witt. Gay married her high school sweetheart, Vaun Bethers in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 17, 1967. A graduate of Wasatch High, she attended BYU. She spent her life learning and striving to improve her life as well as the lives of her family.Betty Gay lived a life of service as a choice wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother and dear friend. She worked for over 14 years as a Support Specialist at the St. George LDS Institute of Religion. She gave a lifetime of service working and volunteering in both public schools and various church callings throughout her life in Bountiful, Logan and St. George, most recently in the LDS 30th branch at the Kindred Care Center. She loved the temple and found strength in family history work.Betty Gay is celebrated by her husband, Vaun Bethers; children, Pam Johnson (Brian) of St. George, Utah; Chad Bethers (Angela) of Hyrum, Utah; Kevin Bethers of Wellsville, Utah; David Bethers (Brittney) of St. George, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and siblings, Leo Witt (Linda) of Heber, Utah, and Kim Witt (DeAnn) of Cusak, Wash. She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Joel.Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Bloomington Hills LDS 2nd Ward, 750 E. Fort Pierce Drive. Friends may call at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, and prior to the service from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.The family would like to thank Dixie Ambulance and other excellent emergency and hospital personnel that came to her aid.There will be a graveside service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Heber City followed by a close friends and family gathering at 2 p.m. at the Heber LDS 5th Ward, 150 N. 200 West, Heber City, Utah 84321.Friends and family are invited to share condolences online at www.serenicare.com (435-986-2085).
