Dr. Bernard “Bernie” Stoll, formerly of Lake Worth, FL and Branford, CT, passed away on March 20, 2020 in Maryville, TN, just one day shy of his 93rd birthday.

Bernard was born March 21, 1927 to Louis and Esther Stoll, in New York City, NY. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy, where he became interested in science conducting weather observations with PIBALs at Pensacola, FL. 

Upon his honorable discharge, he attended college and university, and later became a Speech Therapist and Pathologist, who taught at both Southern Connecticut State College and Yale University. He was an avid—and accomplished—sportsman in a wide variety of sports, from Tournament Table Tennis to serving as the Captain of the U.S. Skeet Shooting Team in the 1969 Maccabiah Games. He was a competitive tennis player, as well as a lobsterman, antiques collector, political science aficionado—and so much more.

Bernard loved family, a good pun, and stories that never diminished in the retelling. In his private Speech Therapy practice, which focused primarily on stutterers, he helped a great many people from all walks of life with his innovative approaches, talent and compassion. In every way, he was truly “one of a kind.”

Bernard is survived by his youngest sister, Rochelle, as well as his ex-wife, Joanne Fisher. Married in 1950 to the late Sylvia Fuhrer Stoll, Bernard is also survived by their four daughters, Sherry, Marci, Andrea and Lori, as well as their five grandchildren Jamie, Chelsea, Bryce, Myles and Nicholas, and four great grandchildren Jaylin, Daniel, Robbie and Alana.

Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. He will be missed.
