Van Camp, Bernard O.Bernard O. Van Camp, 96, Green Bay, died Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1921, in Manistee, MI to Albert and Mabel (King) Van Camp. Bernard graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1939. After graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.On January 16, 1943, Bernard married Jeanette Hoffman at St. Luke Catholic Church and together they celebrated 72 years of marriage before she passed away on January 31, 2015. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served during WWII in the South Pacific, and was honorably discharged in April of 1945. Following his discharge, Bernard was the first veteran of WWII to enroll at Oshkosh State Teachers College. It was from there that he received his Bachelor's Degree in Education. Bernard then served as an Environmental Control Consultant in the paper industry for nearly 50 years. He was also president of Recycle Technology, Inc. until his retirement in 1998. During his working career, Bernard worked in Finland, Austria, Switzerland and Egypt on the Nile River.Bernard was not only a busy man in his professional life but also in his community, serving on the Mayor's Committee for the Beautification of Green Bay. He was President of the X-107th Seabees Association, and was active in the Green Bay Rotary Club,
Elks Club Lodge #259, Green Bay Curling Club, The Original Green Bay Boys Choir, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2037. He was also a member of St. Agnes Parish for many years.Bernard is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Phil Crocker, Renee and Bill Brock, and Bill Schneider; four grandchildren and their spouses, Abbey Box and Jitendra Suman, Leah and Chris Frost, Claire and Cliff Ryan, Leslie and Tim Bigler; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gloria, Gigi, Charley, Max, Owen, Archer, Piper, and Hazel; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and daughter, Lyn Schneider.Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., Green Bay, from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
