Brady, BernardBernard "Bernie" L. Brady, 64, of Fond du Lac passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. He was born on March 30, 1952 in Illinois to Bishop William Hampton Brady and Margaret Josephine (Lodge) Brady. He grew up next to St. Paul's Cathedral and had many fond memories of playing on Sophia Street with neighbor kids. He graduated from Northwestern Military Academy and attended Moraine Park Technical College. Bernie married Kathleen Wilhelm of Lomira on March 15, 1975 in Fond du Lac.Bernie worked for many years at Giddings & Lewis and also for Badger Federal Trucking in Oshkosh. He retired in 2009 and spent his days relaxing at home with family and pets. Bernie had a lifelong fascination with all things mechanical and extended it to his home life. He would be found working on projects large and small throughout the house. He was a fan of black and white movies and shows and relished extemporaneously spinning tales of things for an audience. He always had an affinity for card games of all types. He prided himself in being able to beat the computer at FreeCell and Solitaire on difficult. He always had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed driving down the open road and figuring out the best way through Chicago rush hour.Survivors include his wife Kathie; three children, Bernie Brady, Jennie Brady and Elizabeth (Adam) Lentz; siblings, Anne (Dan) Gross and Bill Brady. His in-laws include Chuck (Barb) Wilhelm, Alyce (Fred) Schraufnagel, Patti Hass, Pete (Mary) Wilhelm, Laurence (Lori) Wilhelm, Loretta Wilhelm and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He also leaves behind two kitties, Bruno and Elsa. A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 17th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Cathedral, 51 W. Division St. Fond du Lac with Rev. Ed Smith officiating.Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave. Fond du Lac.
