Benjamin G. Moseley IILAFAYETTE LA - Benjamin G. Moseley, II, 84, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017, in his home in Lafayette, LA surrounded by his closest family and friends. He was born on February 16, 1933, in Van Vleet, MS. Ben lived a full life and had many successes including: playing football for Mississippi State University, holding many records; being a Veteran of the U.S. Army (Korean War); working as an accomplished Directional Driller who traveled the world with his career that eventually led him to meet the love of his life; and being a father to his eight loving children. Ben was preceded in death by his father, Ben Green Moseley; his mother, Frona Davis Moseley, both of Okalona, MS; and his sister, Dora Fernandez of Memphis, TN.Ben is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maria Lucia, and their children; son, Benjamin Moseley, III; daughter, Malanie(William Ray) ; and one grandson, William Cothern; all of Lafayette, LA. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage;Mark M. Moseley, Shiela Kay (Bobby) Jarrell; Theresa Moseley; Pam Moseley; Max (Melynda) Moseley, Marty (Belinda) Moseley; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; all of Picayune, MS.Ben will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his loving spirit, his kind heart, his zest for life, and uplifting energy. He never met a stranger or hitchhiker that he wouldn't have picked up, and he could engage almost anyone in an interesting conversation. The world lost a great one, but heaven gained an angel.The family would like to express our appreciation for the wonderful help and care given by Hospice of Acadiana.Ben donated his body to the LSU School of Medicine for research. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor by Fr. Nicholas DuPre, May 13, 2017, time and location to be determined.
