Potter, Bede A. (Nee McCaskey ) Died peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Columbia Saint Mary's Hospital of Ozaukee at the age of 72. Bede is survived by her husband Roy "Pepper" Potter; her sons, Chris Barth of Phoenix, AZ and his wife Heidi and her two daughters, Charlotte and Sophia; Patrick Barth of Las Vegas, NV; step-daughters Karen Potter of Greenville, SC and Holly Potter of Boulder, CO; her mother, Doris Cummins of Milwaukee; brothers, Charles (Janis) McCaskey of Mequon, and James Cummins of Bayside. Preceded in death by her sister Mary Cummins in 1977. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Bede's wonderfully warm personality touched everyone who knew her. Bede was born on October 7, 1944 in Milwaukee to Charles McCaskey and his wife Doris (nee Rooney). A life-long Milwaukee area resident, she attended St. Monica Catholic School, Dominican High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Bede volunteered at hospitals and worked in development at the Milwaukee Art Museum and the American Heart Association before embarking on a 20-year career as executive director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Wisconsin. She was also active in the Junior League and presided as President of the organization. Bede was married to the late Douglas Barth. They were the parents of two sons, Christopher and Patrick. Later she married Roy Potter in 2004. They resided in Mequon. She had a passion for her work and the many clients served by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She had an equal passion for her family and never missed a practice, meeting, school or sports activity. She also was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. Reading was her primary interest. She also enjoyed shopping at Chicos, and even clerked there briefly after her retirement. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, November 22, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian burial at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bede's name may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Wisconsin, 200 S. Executive Drive #203, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005.
