RACINE - Beatrice Joyce (née: Larsen) Sondergaard, age 87, passed away on December 16, 2013. Beatrice was born on January 23, 1926 to Edwin J. Larsen and Helen B. (nee: Kast) Larsen. She lived in Racine all of her life. Beatrice was united in marriage to Edward R. Sondergaard on June 1, 1946. Beatrice was employed as the book keeper at the family business, Sondergaard Electric. She was also a homemaker. Beatrice was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She had many interests, such as reading, traveling and volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital. She was involved in many card clubs, and also played skipbo and cribbage. Beatrice was a member of the Washington Park Golferette's Club. She especially loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beatrice is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mark) Bonady, Linda (James) Covelli, Gary (Lisa) Sondergaard, Scott (Lori) Sondergaard, six grandchildren, Devon, Chad, Laura, Kyle, Craig and Shannon, five great-grandchildren, Linden, Carter, Avery, Layla, and Camron. She is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Anthony Tenuta and Walter Iwon. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, two brothers; Eddie (Nancy) Larsen and John (Shirley) Larsen and her sister, Dee Tenuta. She was further preceded by her parents, Edwin and Helen, and her stepmother, Grace (nee: Porter) Larsen. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Wilson Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service for Beatrice will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church (716 College Ave.) at 10:00 am with Reverend Ben Johnston-Krase officiating. Visitation is from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 am. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Alliance or First Presbyterian Church.
