Danford, BarryBarry "Bear" Danford, 63, of Oconto passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on February 14, 2017. He was born on August 31, 1953 in Redwood City California to the late Ned and Dorothy (McGuire) Danford. Barry joined the Marines in 1971. He moved to Wisconsin in 1973 with his best friend, Irwin Migel. He met Suzann Wittock, fell in love and they were married on July 27, 1974. They created a beautiful family of 3 independent daughters and 6 intelligent grandkids. Barry enjoyed working many years at the Harry Stich Painting company and 20+ years at Oconto Metal Finishing. Barry loved road trips, camping, hunting, old movies and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, history buff and was passionate about politics. He loved his country and was proud to be a Marine. He was also a loyal Packer fan and didn't miss a game. Some of the highlights of Barry's life included recently finding out about his long lost families in Utah and California. Meeting his sisters "Valene" (Rod) Tueller, Dixie (Jerry) Coggins and his cousins Gale and June Blum and countless nieces and nephews brought him a lot of joy. Barry had an immense love for his dogs Leo and Raven and his "grandpuppies" Mr. T, Spot, Little Bear and Apollo. It could easily be said that Barry was the #1 fan of the rock group AC/DC.Barry is survived by his wife Suzann Danford (Wittock) of Oconto; daughters Stacy Danford of Green Bay, Sandra (Dwayne) Wenzel of Oconto, CPT Shannon Frazier of Yorktown VA, and his great friend Jean (Keith) Skonning of Green Bay- who he considered to be a "4th daughter"; brothers in law -Robert Wittock of Lena, Thomas Wittock of Oconto; Sister in Law Tammy (Patrick) Guns of Green Bay; 6 grandchildren- Nikki Wenzel, Nathan Danford, Mariah Pointer, Dondre Frazier, Cheyenne Wenzel and Brielle Frazier; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.He was proceeded in death by his parents Ned and Dorothy Danford of California, Parents in-law George and Esther Wittock and one brother in-law Charles Wittock- all of Oconto. Special thanks to Dr. Rob Birk, Clarity Care, St. Vincent's ICU/IMCU, Unity Hospice and Pastor Dean Good. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday February 18th from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M. at the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Oconto. Pastor Dean Good will be officiating. Military honors will be given by the Oconto American legion at the Funeral Home.
