Barbara IrwinKnoxville, TNBarbara Ruth (Patterson) Irwin passed away on January 22, 2017 at Park West Hospital. She was born on December 3, 1935 in Knoxville, to the late William "Pat" and Kathleen Patterson. During her 81 years, she dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, celebrated 61 years of marriage to her childhood sweetheart, and inspired her many children and grandchildren to lead better lives. She could often be found rummaging through local garage sales, and she was a beloved friend of many in the Knoxville community. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Todd Irwin; her sisters, Patricia Lynn Newman and Carolyn Monday; and her brother-in-law, Lester Newman. Barbara is survived by her husband, James Irwin; her sons and their wives, Rick (Janet) Irwin, Randy (Rosey) Irwin, and Mark (Kim) Irwin; her grandchildren and their spouses, Katie (Patrick) Moore, Will (Malorie) Irwin, Jake Irwin, Sarah Irwin (fiancé Charlie Mitchell), Chloe (Paul) Chyka, Hannah Irwin, Jonathan (Nikki) Kamar, and Jihan (Michael) Cox; and her nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth Ann (Clayton) McDonald; her brothers, William "Bud" (Vera) Patterson, Robert Isaac "Butch" Patterson, and Mike (Becky) Patterson; and her brother-in-law, Herb Monday. Pallbearers are Will Irwin, Jake Irwin, Jonathan Kamar, Michael Cox, Patrick Moore, Paul Chyka, Charlie Mitchell, and Brandon McDonald. Visitation will be held in the evening on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00. A funeral service will follow visitation, and the burial will take place at 11:00 in the morning on Saturday, January 28 at Highland Memorial Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
