Turner, Barbara Diamond Age 75, died on Oct. 26, 2016, in Bethel, Conn. Funeral services will be held at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Conn. Barbara was born on May 29, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Alex and Pearl Diamond. She grew up, with her sister Sheila, in Flushing, Queens. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, Mass.) in 1962, with a major in religion. Barbara married Arthur Turner on April 20, 1963 in Manhattan. They both converted from Judaism to Catholicism. She earned a master's degree in theology in 1965 from Fordham University in New York, and Doctor of Philosophy in religious studies from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1982. Barbara taught theology for 20 years at Saint Francis de Sales, the archdiocesan seminary in Milwaukee. She co-wrote an essay on part of the seminary's history in 1997, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary, and edited the translation of the German book, "Encounters with Karl Rahner" (2006). Barbara is survived by her husband, Arthur, her sister Sheila (married to Robert Goodwin), her children Jonathan (Betsy), Andrew (Anne), and Daniel (Wendy), six grandchildren, two nephews, and a cousin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
