Barbara Ann Simmons of Front Royal, VA, formerly of Manassas Park, VA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 23, 2016 and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by the love of her family and devoted husband.The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Dottie Holden. Burial will be held at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas, VA at 2 p.m.Barbara was born on March 27, 1940 in Manassas, VA, daughter of the late Winard C. and Thelma Harris Cornwell.In 1957 she met and married her loving husband of 59 years, Bobby Dale Simmons. Together they started an amazing and loving family of five. She loved spending time with her family, and most of all, the family get-togethers. Thanksgiving Dinners and Christmas Eve brought her total joy in sharing them with her family.She was an avid NASCAR and Kyle Busch fan, and was known for her large collection of M&M memorabilia and collecting Barbie's and her love of dolls, and enjoyed planting spring flowers.Barbara and Bobby spent several years "Making Memories" while traveling the U.S. and Canada by motorcycle and motor home in the company of great friends. She was a devoted and loving wife ,loved her children and extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins beyond compare. She had faithful friends that lasted over many, many years.Surviving along with her husband are her children, Linda Hurd and husband, Cliff, Rhonda Thompson and husband, Joe, Bobby Tylee Simmons and wife, Karen Sue, Shane Simmons, and Patti Wells and husband, Ronnie; 13 grandchildren, Sharon Wood, Amy Hernandez, Sara Grove, Matthew Hurd, Daniel Hurd, Robbie Young, Jennifer Mullins, Amber Holcomb, DeAnna Wells, and Katie Wells; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Caleb Hernandez, Dominic Boutwell and Olivia Mullins; grandchildren she inherited with great love and pleasure Brittany Sperry, Billie (Gina) McGuire, Donna Caperton, and their children Cassidy Ketchum. Kiley McGuire, Ryan and Ethan Caperton; also surviving always encouraging and inspiring her lifetime friend Beverly Waugerman and cousin Karen Whistleman.Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles W. "Jim" Cornwell, Sr., and Paul M. Cornwell; and her loving dog, Judy Ann, of 14 years.Pallbearers will be Bobby T. Simmons, Shane Simmons, Cliff Hurd, Joe Thompson, Ronnie Wells, and Matthew Hurd.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
