January 21, 1930 - November 11, 2016Virgil Benton, Jr., 86, of Anacortes, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 21, 1930 in Danville, KY, the son of Virgil and Bulah (Harmon) Benton, Sr. He is survived by his wife Jennie; sons, Paul (Tammie) and Peter (Sandy) Benton; daughter, Susan (Roy) Skollingsberg; grandchildren, Elleisha Knowlton, Scott Redington, Ryan Skollingsberg, Shannon Terry, Jason Skollingsberg, Brandon Benton, Joshua Benton, Angela VanAlstine, Tiffany Hammon and Natalie Mallory. A Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the Mass. Burial with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT.
