Shortly after, Darold was called to active duty while Avis continued to work intermittently for Morrison-Knudsen. During that time Avis continued to travel, enjoy her gardening (especially her Roses), and spending time with her many, many friends, neighbors and family.Over the years Avis was an active and devoted member of the Southminster United Presbyterian Church in Boise, where she served as a Deacon, and after moving to Nampa attended Franklin Community Church. She was actively involved with the P.E.O. chapters BX and then BY, as well as a volunteer with the St. Alphonsus Auxillary in Boise.
